still stitching

although i am back at work i still find time to work on my crafts projects, thank goodness, as this keeps me on an even keel. i finished the first pair of christmas socks the day before leaving for camp/work. however, they did not turn out as expected. i discovered that 2 balls of the chosen wool is not enough yardage to produce medium to large sized socks. oops...
fortunately i know someone who wil fit these small socks quite nicely. i have started the next pair of christmas socks using 3 balls of wool to make larger sized socks. i quite like the colour
combination with the pattern "ukranian" socks.i have also been
working on "crazy dreams" for the last week. i have used up my
stash of dark brown which i have used to outline each section.
this means a trip to the stitching studio for more thread!
always a good time! beforecoming out to camp i picked up the
fleeces i had carded at rovings.the icelandic fleeces that lisa gave
me last summer are beautiful. i can hardly wait to spin them up.
but first i will need to finish up the doghair/polworth plied with
the "aurora" polworth. i also bought a nostepinne for ballwinding.
it is good to be back to work even though it does cut into my time
spent knitting, stitching and spinning!

finished and done

i am so pleased to be finished the "green autumn" mittens in the grey/purple mix colourway. i now have two pairs of lovely alpaca mittens. this means i can now start on the christmas knitting. first up is a pair of "ukranian " socks. the pattern is from my "folk socks" book. i really like the look of these two colours together. i am surprised how quickly the socks are knitting up. i started them last night and worked on them this morning and am halfway done the first sock.
i also finished the "lost in the garden" canvaswork project. well almost finished. i want to add another border before i get it framed. i am pleased with how it has turned out. it is so good to be able to see all these earrings that have been hidden away in various jewelry stashes. i also am now finished my pottery classes as well. i spent my last class trimming the vase and bowl i threw the week before and glazing all the pots i've throw this winter. i tried a few different combinations of glazes as the pots were made from three different clays. the first being grey stoneware, then danish white stoneware and also a combination of the two clays giving a swirled/striped look. i am excited to see how they will turn out.
